headspace Coffs Harbour is looking for two Youth Access Clinicians to join the team on a part-time basis. One role is part-time ongoing (0.8 FTE), and the other is a part-time contract until June 2027(0.6 FTE), hours and days to be negotiated.

Job Description
About the Role
As a Youth Access Clinician, you will engage, screen, assess, refer, provide brief interventions and coordinate care for young people aged 12 to 25. As one of the first points of contact for young people accessing the service, you will build strong, youth-friendly relationships with young people and their family or support networks, assess needs and risk, develop practical plans to reduce risk, and help connect each young person with the right care at the right time.
We are looking for clinicians who are empathetic, clinically capable and genuinely committed to improving outcomes for young people. You will bring initiative, sound judgement and a collaborative approach, and you will thrive as a positive contributor within a multidisciplinary team.

Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong experience in intake, screening and comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment, along with a person-centred approach that supports young people to access the right services in line with their goals and preferences. You will also meet the following essential criteria:
Tertiary qualifications in health, behavioural or social sciences, community services, or a related discipline that demonstrates a strong foundation in assessing and supporting young people at risk
Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, including suicide and violence risk, and develop action plans to mitigate identified risks
Experience delivering brief therapeutic interventions, counselling and treatment planning, with a strong commitment to involving young people in their own care
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and coordinating client care effectively
Experience working with diverse communities, including refugee communities, CALD communities, LGBTIQA+ communities, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Sound knowledge of mental health, including evidence-based interventions and clinical practice
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage young people and their family or support networks and advocate effectively on their behalf
A broad understanding of the experiences and challenges facing young people in Australia, including local community factors
Desirable:
Eligibility for registration with AHPRA or current membership with AASW, where applicable
A broad understanding of Australia’s mental health and primary care systems
